Lyrics

Deep with-i-n the sil-ence star-ing-ou-t up-on the se-a Waves are wash-ing o-v-er half for-gott-en mem-or-ies Deep with-i-n the mo-ment laugh-ter flo-ats up-on the bre-eze Ris-ing an-d fa-ll-ing dy-ing do-wn with-in me And I swear I nev-er kn-ew I nev-er kn-ew how it could be And all this ti-me all I had in-side was what I coul-n't see And I swear I nev-er kn-ew I nev-er kn-ew how it could b-e All the waves are wash-ing o-v-er all that hu-rts in-side of m-e Beyond this beat-i-ful hor-i-zon lies a drea-m for you and I this tran-quil scene is still un-brok-en by the rum-ours in the sky There's a storm clos-ing in voic-es cr-ying on the wind The se-ren-ade is grow-ing cold it breaks my soul and tries to sing There's so man-y, man-y thoughts when I try to go to sleep But with you I start to feel a sort of temp-or-ar-y peace As I drift in and ou-t drift in and ou-t drift in and ou-t drift in and ou-t drift in and ou-t drift in and ou-t drift in and ou-t drift in and ou-t drift in and ou-t drift in and ou-t Drift

Notice

All notes/chords are relative to the capo on the 3rd fret. That is, an open string on the tab is in fact the third fret of the guitar. This obviously doesn't apply to the bass guitar or guitars 2 and 3 which don't use a capo. Guitars 1, 2, 3 and 5 will require copious amounts of reverb and delay, coupled with volume swells produced either by hand or by a volume pedal. Anathema like to use an automatic volume sweller (I'm not sure if that's the correct term haha) and it's possible that this effect was used for this song, too. The last half of the song (Section 2) is not a straight 4 -chord progression, but is instead a cycle of several progressions, each ending with Em and Fsus2. For instance: 1. Fsus2, Am, Em, Fsus2 2. Am, Em/C, Em, Fsus2 3. C, Am, Em, Fsus2 4. Am, Em/C, Em, Fsus2 And so on. The guitar parts for the end of the Outro sound a little crazy, but the tab is correct (as far as I can tell!) and the lack of appropriate effects and studio magic makes it a little unpleasant! It's incredibly difficult to accurately tab these parts, so amp up the delay and reverb and hope for the best :P This tab was created using the following software: Guitar Pro 5.2 Amazing Slow Downer 3.2.3 This tab has NOT been optimised to be played back with RSE - if you use RSE you may need to tweak the volume levels etc. to suit your own software/taste. Update History: =========================================== ---------------------------- [ 26th July 2009 ] ---------------------------- * Tab completed ------------------------------ [ 3rd August 2009 ] ------------------------------ * Replaced the first keyboard's "Muted Guitar" instrument with the "Rhodes Piano" one for a better recreation of the instrument used on the song -------------------------------- [ 15th August 2009 ] -------------------------------- * Added seashore effects * Corrected the acoustic guitar fill at the very end of the song (extended it by several bars, and added the gradual tempo decrease found on the CD track) * Corrected the backing vocals in Section 2 (they were originally coming in one bar too late) ----------------------------------- [ 22nd October 2009 ] ----------------------------------- * Added tremolo picking to the bends in bar 95 of Guitar 2. I didn't know this could be done until now :) ===========================================
